Aligarh is a popular place in UP and has been known for its educational culture. The city was founded by the Dor Rajputs in 372 A.D. The town came under the control of many people and territories containing the Mughals who renamed it to Aligarh and the French who made the Aligarh fort. The famous war of Aligarh was fought here in 1803 which put the city under the control of the British. The town is also popular for its security device industry.
The fort was actually made in the 14th century and came under the rule of the Marathas who were later supported by the French but were finally defeated by the British.
