The Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary, now known as Shahid Chandra Shekhar Azad Bird Sanctuary, is a famous bird sanctuary in the district of Unnao, in the state of Uttar Pradesh. It is one of the wetlands situated in northern India. The bird sanctuary provide home to a great variety of avian species and more than 250 species of migratory birds travelling to the bird sanctuary from as far as Europe. The bird sanctuary is also home to a deer park, and watchtowers, which are placed to offer better views of the entire region to its visitors.

The Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary is home to a great population of avian species and migratory birds who migrate across the Himalayas from China, Tibet, Europe and Siberia. The bird sanctuary is flocked with many winter migratory birds visiting this sanctuary from over 5000 km and above 8500 mts. to reach the bird sanctuary. Some of the major migratory birds found here during winters are Pintail, Greylag Goose, Red Crested pochard, Cotton teal, Shoveller, Gadwall, Coot and Mallard. Some of the other bird species found at the bird sanctuary includes Spotbill, Painted Stork, Peacock, Sarus crane, Dabchick, White Ibis, Open billed stork, Whistling teal, and White necked stork. Additionally, you can also spot Bronze winged Jacana, Lapwing, Pheasant tailed jacana, Tern vulture, Purple moorhen, Pigeon, King crow, Bee eater, and Indian roller during your visit to the Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary.
The Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary is also home to a deer park, famous as the home of the spotted deer. One of the major attractions, the Deer Park invites a lot of visitors.
The Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary also provides home to many reptile species like Cobra, Krait, Viper, Water snakes, Ratsnake and as well as some turtles.
Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary is easily accessible via air, train, and road. Located close to two of the major cities of Lucknow and Kanpur, and its proximity to the National Highway 25, makes the Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary Bird Sanctuary easy to accessible throughout the year.
